The renewal date is not your deadline. The notice date is, and it is usually 30 to 90 days earlier. Work out the real one below, then find out whether this vendor is worth cancelling, downgrading or renegotiating.

    What the verdicts mean

    VerdictWhat it meansTypical time

One vendor is the free version

This page checks one line at a time. The kit does the whole book of recurring spend: every vendor, every notice deadline, every verdict, ranked by how much money each one returns per minute of your time. It works in Excel and in Google Sheets, and it ships with a self test so you can confirm the formulas compute correctly on your own machine before you trust a number in it.

Find and eliminate at least one unnecessary recurring expense in 60 minutes.

    How the deadline maths works

Three dates matter and most people only track one.

Renewal dateWhen the new term begins and you are charged
Notice deadlineRenewal date minus the notice period. Your actual deadline
Act-by dateNotice deadline minus a week, because vendors are slow to reply

Two things catch people out. First, some contracts count the notice period from the anniversary of signature rather than the end of the term, which moves the deadline earlier. Second, some require notice by post or through a support portal, so an email to your account manager is not notice at all. Read the Notices clause before you rely on any date on this page.
